You know those days that start off in a way you wish you could go back to bed and wake up again? But you don’t and it continues that way… welcome to today. At least now with the lack of sleep I’m borderline delirious and find humor in it. It was 1:30am and I heard the little squeak box which usually means one thing… feed me.
With one eye open we went to the nursery to change her diaper. I unzipped the swaddle, cleaned her up, and put a new diaper on. When I turned to toss the diaper in the diaper genie I heard an all too familiar noise. I swear this kid is like a cat with a fresh litter box! She just can’t wait to use it. I gave her a minute knowing I’d regret it if I didn’t… and I changed her again. Now with all of our eyes open we went back to bed to feed. Now approaching 2:00am I could see her eyes getting heavy and her feeding getting lazy, I thought I’d better put her in her bassinet soon, but after a few more gulps to be sure. Well around 5:15 I woke up to her squawking as she does when she starts to wake. It startled me because I hadn’t realized we’d been asleep. When my eyes adjusted I couldn’t help but laugh. My bra was unsnapped, my boob was on her face, and in her little hand clenched in a fist was my breast pad… I mean what happened here! I stayed staring and smiling, I couldn’t help it. I decided I better move her and may as well get up anyway. I felt guilty for not burping her during her feed, but karma works pretty quickly. As soon as I moved her she spit up perfectly into my armpit… to her victory it got me out of bed! She continued to nap for much of the morning so we got ready to go on a Sunday adventure. We loaded up in my truck and headed for the old port. Obviously for coffee. That was our first stop. Next would be lunch, we thought. We got back to the truck and heard That familiar sound again, followed by wailing. That meant one thing… blowout. Sure enough it was coming out of the front of the diaper. We pit stopped a diaper change and made a bottle. 4 ounces of pure happiness and nap time were sucked down in a paid public parking lot. With charleigh back to sleep it meant hurry up and find lunch. We walked around a little more and decided to drive to a new spot. We found and scarfed down some lunch and decided to buy more diapers at BJs for obvious already mentioned reasons. When we stopped we figured we may as well toss out the dirty diapers lingering in bag in the back seat. After buying 192 diapers, basically a days worth at this rate, I was ready for home. We got back in the truck and couldn’t find the blow out outfit from earlier… of course I would throw it away! Daddy went dumpster diving to find we had bagged it with the dirty diapers… he agreed it was time for home at this point. We finally made it home, just in time for another feeding. This time gammie was on duty. Gammie fed charleigh and let her nap for a little while dinner was cooking. As dinner was almost ready she decided to change her… I heard a bang and then roaring laughter coming from the nursery. I could only imagine… I went to see what happened only to find my mom hunched over laughing and a poop streak strewn across the changing table. I wasn’t sure what happened yet but I couldn’t help but laugh with her. She said she was changing the diaper and went to wipe when charleigh sneezed and apparently sharted along with it. We laughed all over again as we cleaned up… when did things like this become cute and funny?! Team no sleep!
I so love this💛
